On board with The Munda Biddi

 The Munda Biddi Trail Foundation

Local eco-tourism business co-owner, Lenore Lyons, has been appointed to the Board of the Munda Biddi Trail Foundation (MBTF). Lenore, who together with her husband, Dr Dave, run Out of Sight Tours and the Eco-Discovery Shop in Denmark, was one of three new members of the board voted in at the Foundation’s recent AGM.

The Munda Biddi Trail (which means “path through the forest” in the Nyoongar Aboriginal language) is fast becoming a world-class nature-based off-road cycling experience. The trail, which starts in Mundaring and currently ends in Manjimup, will extend all the way to Denmark and Albany by the end of 2012. When it is completed, the trail will be over 1000 kilometers in length.

The MBTF is a not-for-profit organization responsible for encouraging community engagement and education about the trail; developing opportunities for tourism, employment and training; and attracting partnerships, funding and other resources for the development and sustainability of the trail.

When asked about her appointment to the Board, Lenore said: “I am extremely excited about the impending arrival of the Munda Biddi Trail in our region because of the opportunities it presents to develop and extend the area’s reputation as a nature-based holiday destination. Through my role on the Board I hope to work with local operators and other stakeholders in tourism and recreation to build the local area’s capacity in eco-tourism”.
