Where is Denmark (WA)?

A lot of visitors are often puzzled by the name of our town, Denmark, given that it is the same name as a Scandinavian country in the northern hemisphere. We are actually located in the south of Western Australia and there is no connection with Denmark the country. Our town was named after a naval surgeon Dr Alexander Denmark by an English explorer – Thomas Braidwood Wilson in 1829. For a visitor’s perspective on Denmark and our exact location see a great story written by Sarah at naturewide.
